Walkenhorst Motorsport has completed the 2024 season on the Nordschleife – while the drivers of the BMW were able to complete important laps, the Hyundai was forced to retire early through no fault of its own.

The season finale of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie took place last Saturday. In cold conditions, the protagonists took to the tarmac of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife for the last time this year. Walkenhorst Motorsport entered a Hyundai i30N and a BMW 125i for permit drivers.

‘It was nice for us to drive the last race of the NLS this year. Unfortunately, our Hyundai was forced to retire early through no fault of its own, but Mex successfully fulfilled the requirements for the Nordschleife Permit 2025,’ said Managing Director Jörg Breuer.

Walkenhorst Motorsport talent Mex Jansen, who has already competed for the team in the ADAC GT4 Germany and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, and Fabio Scherer, who won the 2023 24h Le Mans in the LMP2 class, shared a BMW 125i in the VT2 RWD class in the four-hour race. During their stint, the two were able to complete important laps and gain experience on the Nordschleife.

In the VT2 FWD class, Ed McDermott, Matt Topham and Dexter Patterson competed in the Hyundai i30N. However, the car was forced to retire on the second lap through no fault of its own: Several cars were involved in an accident during a Code 60 phase in the Mutkurve. The Hyundai i30N was hit hard at the rear and irreparably damaged.

‘This year’s Nürburgring Endurance Series season was certainly not the easiest due to the circumstances. Despite everything, we were delighted every time we were able to compete in our motorsport home. We were also very pleased that many well-known drivers successfully obtained their licence with us. We have already started planning for next year! We will be back next year and will be represented in the Eifel again with our Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo,’ adds Niclas Königbauer.

The planned start of the 2025 season of the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series is the 22. March.
