Walkenhorst Motorsport with two cars in NLS season finale

Walkenhorst Motorsport is focussing on fielding two permit cars in the season finale of the ADAC Nürburgring endurance series.

The 2024 season of the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series will end unusually late on 16 November with the 56th ADAC Barbarossa Prize. Walkenhorst Motorsport will be on the grid with two production-based cars. The focus of the entry will be on achieving the drivers’ Nordschleife permits.

‘Competing in a race on the Nordschleife in mid-November doesn’t happen every year, but this year it was unavoidable due to the circumstances. I know from my own experience that the conditions can be very difficult, so we are hoping for the best possible weather for the race,’ says Walkenhorst Motorsport Managing Director Jörg Breuer.

Mex Jansen will be at the wheel of the BMW 125i with starting number #518. The Dutchman, who has already competed for WMS in the ADAC GT4 Germany and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup, celebrated his debut on the Nordschleife in the last race of the NLS. He shares the car, which competes in the VT2 RWD class, with former DTM driver Fabio Scherer. The Swiss driver won last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 class and finished runner-up in the prototype class in the FIA WEC.

The well-known Hyundai i30N will also be competing in the VT2 FWD class. With the two Britons Ed McDermott and Matthew Topham as well as the Scotsman Dexter Patterson, three drivers will drive the car who have a lot of experience in GT cars and now want to tackle the Nordschleife more intensively!

Managing Director Niclas Königbauer adds: ‘We are proud that once again well-known and successful motorsport drivers want to gain their licence with us! Fabio Scherer, one of the fastest prototype drivers, will be competing for us and sharing the car with our great young talent Mex Jansen. And the line-up of our Hyundai has already achieved many successes in England.’

The 56th ADAC Barbarossa Prize will start at 12:00 noon on 16 November and will run over a distance of four hours. Qualifying will start at 8.30 am. Fans who cannot be at the track will be able to watch the race on the official live stream on YouTube.
