Walkenhorst Motorsport continues successful Nordschleife permit programme
Walkenhorst Motorsport will continue its successful Nordschleife permit programme with the Hyundai i30N this season.
Former Formula 1 driver and DTM race winner Jack Aitken, 24h Le Mans class winner Fabio Scherer and Multimatic factory driver Seb Priaulx have one thing in common – they successfully competed in the Walkenhorst Motorsport Hyundai i30N to obtain the necessary permit to be able to compete in powerful racing cars on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
To obtain a DMSB Permit A, which allows drivers to compete in powerful GT cars on one of the most demanding race tracks in the world, drivers – whether factory drivers or ambitious gentleman drivers – must first compete in low-performance cars. Drivers must provide proof of at least two race results in which they completed 14 race laps on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife before they are issued the corresponding Permit A. This procedure is designed to help drivers get used to the demanding races on the traditional track, which, with its specific rules and high speed differences, differs from all other race tracks worldwide.
‘It is gratifying that so many drivers – professionals and amateurs – trust our many years of experience and are joining us on the ‘Nordschleife adventure’! This year, we are once again experiencing a very high number of applications for the permit courses on the Nordschleife and are again relying on the Hyundai i30N in the VT2 class. Interested customers for the required Nordschleife permit are welcome to contact us, as a few driver places are still available during the season,’ says Managing Director Jörg Breuer.
In addition, the racing team from Melle – which has made a name for itself worldwide by winning the 2018 Spa 24 Hours and the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge title – is also planning to compete in the Nürburgring 24-hour race for the first time with a Hyundai i30N! The car will start in the VT2 FWD class in the endurance classic, as in the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie races.
