Race Report NLS 8

Walkenhorst Motorsport takes its third overall victory in a row

The two BMW M4 GT3s from Walkenhorst Motorsport delivered again at the NLS 8. Jakub Giermaziak and Christian Krognes take their third overall victory in a row, while Dylan Pereira and Sami-Matti Trogen round off the result with fifth place.

Nürburgring. Last weekend, Walkenhorst Motorsport took part in the eighth Nürburgring endurance series event with four racing cars. The two BMW M4 GT3s were driven by the proven driver pairing of Jakub Giermaziak and Christian Krognes in the #34 and by Dylan Pereira and Sami-Matti Trogen in the #35. The latter was behind the wheel of the GT3 for the third time, after the 24-hour race and the associated qualifying race in May. He also competes in the ADAC GT4 Germany with Walkenhorst Motorsport.

Both GT3s landed in promising positions in qualifying. The #35 recorded the third fastest lap, while the sister car finished qualifying in fifth place. Both vehicles had a very strong start on Saturday afternoon. Jakub Giermaziak and Dylan Pereira were able to establish themselves in the leading group from the start and complete a problem-free double stint. The different strategies showed that #34 in particular was fighting for the overall lead after a few laps. The exciting duel with the #30 Ferrari lasted almost the entire race.

In the second half of the race, the Nürburgring once again demonstrated its typical capricious weather. Drizzle began to fall in increasing parts of the track and thus presented a real challenge to the teams. At Walkenhorst Motorsport they decided on different strategies. While the #34 car with Christian Krognes stayed on slicks, Sami-Matti Trogen switched to rain tires, which unfortunately turned out to be less optimal in the end.

Jakub Giermaziak and Christian Krognes’s once again excellent performance was rewarded with overall victory after 28 race laps. The top performance of Dylan Pereira and Sami-Matti Trogen was confirmed with a good fifth place.

The two other vehicles from the Walkenhorst Motorsport team also had a successful weekend. This time, the #191 with the BMW M4 GT4 was driven by Aris Balanian and Bennet Ehrl, who was behind the wheel of the BMW M4 GT4 for the first time. The duo finished the race in an excellent third place in the SP10 category. Bennet Ehrl proved that the permit program also lays a very good foundation for upcoming GT4 races.

The fourth vehicle used, the Hyundai i30N with starting number #470, offered Tazio Ottis, Nico Hantke and Dev Gore the opportunity to complete their permit. They crossed the finish line after around four hours in fifth place in the VT2 class.

The team from Melle has another NLS race ahead of them. The 47th PAGID Racing DMV Münsterland Cup will take place at the Nürburgring on October 7th.
