Walkenhorst Motorsport with a conciliatory result at the season finale

The Walkenhorst Motorsport trio consisting of James Kell, Anders Buchardt and Ben Green completed the final Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS Endurance Cup race in Barcelona, Spain with a solid result and achieved eighth place in the Bronze Cup.

Barcelona. The final Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS Endurance Cup weekend of the season took place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. 54 vehicles gave their best in the battle for the championship.

The team from Melle worked very intensively on the car’s set-up throughout the weekend and was able to make significant progress here. In particular, the experienced team newcomer Ben Green found his way around the team very well and provided valuable advice on set-up work.

On Sunday afternoon, Walkenhorst Motorsport started the 3-hour race with the #35 BMW M4 GT3 from 15th place in the Bronze Cup. After a solid stint in the early stages, Anders Buchardt handed over to the Brits James Kell and Ben Green, who took his place in the Walkenhorst Motorsport car for the first time. The exciting race was characterized by many incidents and safety car phases, in which the trio was able to continue to fight their way forward with fast and consistent lap times. Only in Ben Green’s final stint were the opportunities to make up positions limited.

Nevertheless, all three drivers performed well and when the checkered flag was waved, the team was only 5 seconds apart from third place in class. James Kell, Anders Buchardt and Ben Green achieved a solid eighth place in the Bronze Cup, which corresponded to 30th place overall.

Walkenhorst Motorsport looks back on this season with satisfaction and is looking forward to the races next year.

Ben Green, driver #35: “It was great to make my race debut in the GTWCE series this weekend with Walkenhorst Motorsport. Firstly, I owe a big thanks to the team for the opportunity and for James and Anders for having me. I’m glad we could make progress throughout the weekend as a team, this was quite rewarding. I learnt a lot about this championship and am sure this experience will be useful going forwards!”
