NLS 4 – not a very lucky one

After an eight-week break Walkenhorst Motorsport finally arrived back at the Nürburgring to participate at the NLS4 on Saturday the 26^th of June. After a long time that almost felt like forever, spectators were allowed to be back at the track for the first time this year. Based on the Covid19 protocol of Rheinland-Pfalz, only 500 people could come to watch the race, therefor the Nürburgring only opened one grandstand.

The team was back with six cars, among others the BMW M2 CSr #888 driven by Florian Weber, Davide Dehren and Dennis Fetzer. The crew managed to get P2 in the CUP5/ A Class. Unfortunately, the sister car – BMW M2 CSr #889 with Matthew Greenwood, Nicolai Kjaergaard and William Tregurtha couldn’t finish the race in the CUP5/ B class due to a contact which didn’t make it possible to repair the car in a short time. The other unlucky car was the BMW M6 GT3 #34 whose drivers were Christian Krognes, David Pittard and Ben Tuck. The trio was also not able to finish the race due to a mechanical issue which was a real shame as they started on P3. The chance to go for the win was pretty high. However, the BMW M6 GT3 #35 with Jörg Müller, Mario von Bohlen and Thomas Neubauer managed to climb up and finished the race in P8 overall. The drivers of the third BMW M6 GT3 #36 were Henry Walkenhorst, Friedrich von Bohlen and Jörg Breuer. They finished P16 in the SP9. The US-American duo consisting of Chandler Hull and Jonathan Miller in their BMW M4 GT4 #181 could unfortunately not start at the tournament because of an incident in qualification. That weekend was not one of the luckiest unfortunately, but nevertheless there is the double header coming up two weeks later which the team is heading to very motivated.

Nach einer achtwöchigen Pause ist Walkenhorst Motorsport endlich wieder am Nürburgring angekommen, um am Samstag, den 26. Juni, an NLS4 teilzunehmen. Nach einer langen Zeit, die sich ewig anfühlte, durften die Zuschauer in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal wieder auf der Strecke sein. Das Schwesterauto – BMW M2 CSr #889 mit Matthew Greenwood, Nicolai Kjaergaard und William Tregurtha konnte das Rennen in der CUP5/ B-Klasse leider nicht beenden, da ein Kontakt es nicht ermöglichte, das Auto in kurzer Zeit zu reparieren. Der BMW M6 GT3 #34 dessen Fahrer Christian Krognes, David Pittard und Ben Tuck waren, konnte das Rennen auch aufgrund eines mechanischen Problems nicht beenden, was eine echte Schande war, da sie auf P3 starteten. Die Chance, den Sieg zu holen, war ziemlich hoch. Der BMW M6 GT3 #35 mit Jörg Müller, Mario von Bohlen und Thomas Neubauer schaffte es jedoch, sich nach vorne zu kämpfen und das Rennen auf P8 insgesamt zu beenden. Die Fahrer des dritten BMW M6 GT3 #36 waren Henry Walkenhorst, Friedrich von Bohlen und Jörg Breuer. Sie belegten P16 in der SP9. Das US-amerikanische Duo bestehend aus Chandler Hull und Jonathan Miller in ihrem BMW M4 GT4 #181 konnte wegen eines Zwischenfalls in der Qualifikation leider nicht zum Turnier starten. Dieses Wochenende war leider nicht eines der glücklichsten, aber trotzdem steht zwei Wochen später der Double Header an, welcher sehr motiviert angegangen wird.
