Walkenhorst Motorsport will line up with four cars at the third round of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and continue its preparations for the 24-hour race.
The 56th Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy, the third round of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, will take place on 10 May. Walkenhorst Motorsport will enter a total of four cars to continue preparations for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
‘After fighting for victory right to the end in the second NLS race and ultimately finishing second overall with our Pro-AMR GT3, we are travelling to the third NLS race in the Eifel with a lot of confidence,’ says team founder Henry Walkenhorst.
The team will field two Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo in the third round of the season. The two Aston Martin works drivers David Pittard and Nicki Thiim will share the team’s top car. In addition, car number #36 will compete in the Pro-Am class. In addition to Christian Krognes, the two ambitious veterans Stefan Aust and Anders Buchardt will drive the car.
Walkenhorst Motorsport entered an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 for the first time at the last round of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, but the car did not see the chequered flag after a serious accident on the first lap of the race. The team from Melle is currently planning to enter the GT4 car in the 56th Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy. Alongside Niklas Abrahamsen and Hermann Vortkamp, Josh Hansen will drive the Aston Martin after gaining his Permit A in the first rounds of the NLS.
The programme is rounded off by the entry of the Hyundai i30N in the VT2 FWD class. The two GT World Challenge Europe drivers Oliver Söderström and Mateo Villagomez will alternate in the Hyundai – both drivers also compete together in the Endurance Cup of the popular international GT3 series.
‘The use of the GT4 for the coming weekend still depends on a number of factors and our mechanics are currently doing everything they can to rebuild the car in time,’ says Managing Director Jörg Breuer. ‘Otherwise, we would like to build on the performance of the last NLS race and gain further experience for the 24-hour race.’
The race start of the 56th Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy will take place on Saturday at 12:00. The drivers will determine their starting positions in qualifying at 8.30 am. On Friday, the teams and drivers will have extensive test drives at their disposal. Fans can follow the racing action of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie on the Nordschleife and in the official live stream of the racing series on YouTube.
