Walkenhorst Motorsport is kicking off its final preparations for the endurance classic in the Eifel at the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers.
The ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers mark the next race weekend for Walkenhorst Motorsport. The two races on the Nürburgring Nordschleife will be an important preparation for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. As in the previous year, the two races also count towards the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, meaning that important championship points are at stake.
‘Our preparations for the 24-hour race have been going very well so far this year, but the additional race kilometres are still very important for us. I’m also very happy to be back in the cockpit of one of our Aston Martin Vantage GT3,’ said team founder Henry Walkenhorst.
The Melle-based team will field a total of three Aston Martin Vantage GT3. The top car will be shared by the three factory drivers Christian Krognes, David Pittard and Mattia Drudi. Only Nicki Thiim, the fourth driver in the endurance classic in June, will not be able to compete in the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers due to a clash with the DTM.
Anders Buchardt and Oliver Söderström will start in the SP9 Pro-Am class. Söderström, who also races for the team in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup, will be competing on the Nordschleife in a GT3 car for the first time after obtaining his Permit A in the previous NLS races. Henry Walkenhorst, Jörg Breuer and Christian Bollrath will compete in the SP9 Am category.
Walkenhorst Motorsport’s line-up will be rounded off by the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the SP10 class. Aris Balanian, Jean-Christophe David and American Josh Hansen will take turns at the wheel of the production-based GT car.
‘The ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers are extremely important for us in our preparations for the 24-hour race in June. We can once again test our adjustments and changes under race conditions and, with the two four-hour races and the practice and qualifying sessions, we have an incredible amount of track time to gather further data – we want to use this to get ourselves in the best possible shape!’ said Managing Director Jörg Breuer.
The two four-hour races will start on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both races of the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers can be followed on the official livestream on YouTube.
