Walkenhorst Motorsport is ready for the second event of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup in Zandvoort on the Dutch North Sea coast.
The busy weeks for Walkenhorst Motorsport continue. Directly after the third round of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and the prologue of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, Walkenhorst Motorsport from Melle will be travelling to Zandvoort. The second race weekend of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup will take place on the Dutch North Sea coast. Walkenhorst Motorsport will bring an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 to the start.
‘Zandvoort is always worth a trip! The track is not only picturesquely situated in the dunes, but can also be reached quite quickly from our team headquarters. We are really looking forward to the event in the Netherlands,’ says team founder Henry Walkenhorst.
Aston Martin works driver Henrique Chaves and Mateo Villagomez from Ecuador will take turns in the cockpit of the #35 Vantage GT3. The two drivers performed well at the Sprint Cup season opener at Brands Hatch, but bad racing luck prevented better results.
Walkenhorst Motorsport is travelling to Zandvoort with fond memories. Last year, the Aston Martin racing team from Lower Saxony secured its first podium finish in the ADAC GT Masters on the dune circuit. Walkenhorst Motorsport have also enjoyed success on the traditional circuit in the ADAC GT4 Germany, finishing second in 2023.
‘The track in Zandvoort suited our Aston Martin very well last year, which makes us very confident about the upcoming race weekend. After our debut at Brands Hatch, we have continued to work on ourselves in order to improve further. The data from last year’s ADAC GT Masters at Zandvoort helped us a lot,’ said Jörg Breuer, Managing Director of Walkenhorst Motorsport.
The two races of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup will start at 15:00 on Saturday and 14:45 on Sunday. There will also be a 10-minute qualifying session early in the morning on both race days. Both races and both qualifying sessions will be broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the series in various languages, including German and English. The drivers and teams will also have 160 minutes of practice time on Friday.
