Walkenhorst Motorsport will make its debut in the ADAC GT Masters at the season opener in Oschersleben, fielding two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s.
The ADAC GT Masters will kick off its 18th season at Oschersleben next weekend. Walkenhorst Motorsport will be competing in the traditional GT3 series for the first time. The team from Melle will field two of the brand-new Aston Martin Vantage GT3s.
“We are delighted to be making our debut in the ADAC GT Masters,” said Managing Director Jörg Breuer. “The racing series has been an attractive option for us for many years, but we have not yet been involved in the championship – fortunately that is changing this year!”
Mike David Ortmann is returning to the racing series in car number #34, in which he last competed in 2021. Ortmann will share the car with Denis Bulatov, who has already gained GT3 experience in the international SRO environment. Ortmann has been champion in the ADAC GT4 Germany for the last two years, in which Bulatov also finished runner-up last year. This means that two of last year’s best GT4 drivers will be competing for the team in the ADAC GT Masters in one car!
American driver Chandler Hull will line up in the sister car with start number #35. Hull has been racing for WMS since 2021 and won the title in the GT class of the Asian Le Mans Series with the team last year. His partner is 20-year-old GT4 newcomer Nico Hantke, who finished runner-up in the Junior classification of the ADAC GT4 Germany last year.
Niclas Königbauer, Managing Director Walkenhorst Motorsport: “It gives me great pleasure to see the motivation, commitment and teamwork between the team and the drivers during the preparations. Our very successful test drives underline this and give me great confidence in the field of talented young drivers to achieve success with our powerful driver line-up. We are building seamlessly on our promotion of young talent in recent years. Together with our partners BCMC and Camping Kaufhaus by InterCaravaning, we are looking forward to the start of the 2024 ADAC GT Masters season.”
The two one-hour ADAC GT Masters races at Oschersleben will start at 3.15 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Sports channel SPORT1 will broadcast both races live and in full length on free-to-air TV. The ADAC will also stream the races on YouTube, where the two qualifying sessions will also be broadcast.
