Instructive ADAC GT Masters debut for Walkenhorst Motorsport

Walkenhorst Motorsport learnt a lot on its debut in the ADAC GT Masters. Both of the team’s Aston Martin cars finished in the points in both races

Premiere for Walkenhorst Motorsport: At the ADAC GT Masters season opener in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the team from Lower Saxony competed for the first time in the traditional GT3 series, which has entered its 18th year of racing. WMS entered two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s for Mike David Ortmann and Denis Bulatov as well as Nico Hantke and Chandler Hull.

“The race weekend in Oschersleben was important for us to learn a lot,” said Managing Director Jörg Breuer. “Our debut in the ADAC GT Masters was not easy, but we were able to improve with every session and move further up the field. This trend gives us confidence. We are also pleased that we were able to score points with both cars.”

Mike David Ortmann and Denis Bulatov drove the #34 car to ninth place on Saturday, despite a spin, and seventh place on Saturday. As a result, the two GT4 newcomers, who had already gained GT3 experience beforehand, were able to score a good haul of points in both races. In the overall standings, the two drivers occupy eighth position after the first race weekend.

Nico Hantke and Chandler Hull finished twelfth and thirteenth in the sister car and were also able to score points in both races, which could be important for the rest of the season. Both drivers were also able to learn a lot on their ADAC GT Masters debut.

“We were clearly shown here in Oschersleben where we still need to improve. In the coming weeks, we will continue to analyse the collected data and prepare ourselves extensively for the upcoming event. We see this as a challenge that we will work on together until the next race weekend in Zandvoort, where we will hopefully be able to take another step towards the front of the field,” says Niclas Königbauer, Managing Director Walkenhorst Motorsport.

The second ADAC GT Masters race weekend will take place in Zandvoort from 7th to 9th June. The traditional circuit, which also hosts Formula 1, is located not far from the North Sea in the dunes of the popular holiday town.
