Highly motivated for the DTM at the Norisring

Marco Wittmann’s home race at the Norisring is here. The last DTM race before the summer break of the season takes place at the street circuit in Nuremberg.

Nuremberg. The only street race on the DTM calendar takes place at the Norisring this weekend. The 2.3 kilometer track offers spectators plenty of action. For BMW factory driver Marco Wittmann, who celebrated a podium finish at Imola two weeks ago, it is his home race. Walkenhorst Motorsport is highly motivated for the races in Nuremberg. The team has had a different motorsport destination each week lately, but this event is something very special. The team based in Melle is looking forward to the Schaeffler fan action around crowd favorite Marco Wittmann at his home game.

The highlight before the summer break of the series also offers a surprise in the regulations: Due to the large starting field, the qualifying sessions are divided into two groups. This should give all 27 vehicles a fair chance. The split is based on the current championship standings.

In addition to the two DTM races, the Trophy will also take place. Walkenhorst Motorsport driver Theo Oeverhaus is currently third in the championship. The aim is to gather further points.

Marco Wittmann’s Heimrennen am Norisring steht bevor. Das letzte DTM-Rennen vor der Sommerpause der Saison findet am Stadtkurs von Nürnberg statt.

Nürnberg. Am Wochenende findet das einzige Stadtrennen des DTM-Kalenders am Norisring statt. Die 2,3 Kilometer lange Strecke bietet Zuschauern jede Menge Action. Für BMW-Werksfahrer Marco Wittmann, der vor zwei Wochen in Imola einen Podiumserfolg feierte, ist es sein Heimrennen. Walkenhorst Motorsport geht hochmotiviert in die Läufe in Nürnberg. Das Team hatte in letzter Zeit jede Woche eine andere Racing-Destination, doch dieses Event ist etwas ganz Besonderes. Die in Melle ansässige Mannschaft fiebert der Schaeffler-Fan-Action rund um Publikumsliebling Marco Wittmann bei seinem Heimspiel entgegen.

Das Highlight vor der Sommerpause der Serie bietet zudem eine Neuheit im Regulatorium: Aufgrund des großen Starterfelds werden die Qualifying Sessions in zwei Gruppen unterteilt. Damit sollen alle 27 Fahrzeuge eine faire Chance haben. Die Aufteilung erfolgt nach dem aktuellen Meisterschaftsstand.

Neben den beiden DTM Rennen findet auch die Trophy statt. Aktuell liegt Walkenhorst Motorsport Pilot Theo Oeverhaus auf Platz drei in der Meisterschaft. Der Punktestand soll weiter ausgebaut werden.
