The Nürburgring will host the only German round of the SRO endurance series with 50 GT3 cars on the grid. Walkenhorst Motorsport will field three Aston Martin Vantage GT3s.

“We put in a strong performance with all our cars at the endurance classic in Spa. Unfortunately, some bad luck prevented podium results, but the performance gave us a lot of momentum. At the Nürburgring, which we know very well from our other programmes, we want to build on this performance and fight for good results,” explains Walkenhorst Motorsport Managing Director Jörg Breuer.

The three Aston Martin factory drivers David Pittard, Ross Gunn and Henrique Chaves will take turns in the cockpit of the #34 Vantage GT3, which will compete in the Pro class. The Aston Martin aces finished the world’s biggest GT3 race at Spa in fourth position after a debatable time penalty in the final minutes of the race prevented the trio from achieving a podium result.

The team from Melle in Lower Saxony rounded off its campaign with one car each in the Silver Cup and the Bronze Cup. Maxime Robin, Romain Leroux and Lorcan Hanafin will drive the Vantage #35 in the Silver Cup, while Mex Jansen, Tim Creswick and Ben Green will compete in the Bronze Cup for WMS. Both cars were on course for top results in the endurance classic at Spa before they were involved in accidents in difficult weather conditions – some through no fault of their own – and retired.

“We were at the Nürburgring just a fortnight ago with the ADAC GT Masters. Even though we only drove the short circuit there, we were able to gain further insights with the Aston Martin on Pirelli tyres at the Nürburgring, which will certainly help us,” added Niclas Königbauer, Managing Director of Walkenhorst Motorsport. “The whole team is travelling to the Nürburgring in good spirits. We are looking forward to hopefully putting on a good show in front of our fans and sponsors!”

The three-hour race of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup starts on Sunday at 15:00. The teams and drivers are already challenged in the early morning of the race day when the starting positions are allocated in the three-part qualifying. Both qualifying and the race will be broadcast in the official livestream on YouTube – the SRO also offers a German-language broadcast of the race.

The third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup will take place at the Nürburgring – Walkenhorst Motorsport will be travelling motivated with three Aston Martin Vantage GT3s.
