Walkenhorst Motorsport put in a strong team performance at the 69th ADAC Westfalenfahrt, which was crowned by the team’s first class win with the new Aston Martin Vantage GT3.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>

The 69th ADAC Westfalenfahrt marked the start of the second half of the ADAC N\u00fcrburgring Langstrecken-Serie season. Walkenhorst Motorsport from Melle in Lower Saxony brought an Aston Martin Vantage GT3, BMW M4 GT3 and Hyundai i30N to the start and showed a strong team performance, which was crowned by good results.

“We are delighted with our first class win with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 – but in general I would like to thank our team for the strong team performance. The cars we entered ran smoothly and our drivers also did a good job, so that we were able to achieve top positions in the respective classes with all the cars,” said Managing Director J\u00f6rg Breuer.

The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 was driven by Anders Buchardt, Benjamin Mazatis and Sami-Matti Trogen in the four-hour race on the N\u00fcrburgring-Nordschleife. The driver trio competed in the SP9 Pro-Am class. In the race, the Walkenhorst trio drove to an unchallenged class victory – the team’s first with an Aston Martin – and showed a strong performance in a chaotic race that was characterised by many incidents.

Walkenhorst Motorsport also impressed in the SP10 class. The racing team entered a BMW M4 GT4 for Aris Balanian, Florian Weber and Joseph Warhurst. The WMS trio did a flawless job in the heavily contested GT4 category. In the end, the drivers finished the race in fourth position and missed out on a podium result by less than half a minute.

In the VT2 FWD class, Walkenhorst Motorsport was delighted with another top three result. In the cockpit of the Hyundai i30N, Bennet Ehrl from Berlin alternated with the two talented young British drivers Tom Edgar and Alex Connor. The driver trio drove the production-based Korean touring car to third place in the popular class.

“The class win confirms that we are on the right track with the Aston Martin. Of course, it wasn’t the biggest competition in the battle for victory in the Pro-Am class, but you still have to finish the race flawlessly and we managed to do that in the difficult conditions! We will continue to work hard to ensure that further successes will follow,” concludes Niclas K\u00f6nigbauer, Managing Director Walkenhorst Motorsport.

The ADAC N\u00fcrburgring Langstrecken-Serie continues on 3rd August with the ROWE 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race – the race is the season highlight in the popular endurance racing series.
