Walkenhorst lined up at NLS5 with two cars in the permit category and one BMW M4 in the GT4 category.
At the same time as the ADAC GT Masters finale at Hockenheim, Walkenhorst Motorsport were also competing in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series. The team from Melle entered three race cars in the 55th ADAC Adenauer Rundstrecken-Trophy. In addition to a BMW M4 GT4, the team entered two permit cars. Difficult weather conditions posed further challenges for the team and the drivers.
Fanatec GT World Challenge driver Mex Jansen and the two British GT drivers Ed McDermott and Michael Broadhurst took to the starting line in the well-known Hyundai i30N in the VT2-FWD class. At the wheel of the production-based touring car, they were able to gain a lot of experience in the four hours of racing and finished the race in fifth place in their class. The drivers put in a flawless performance and completed the first laps for their Nordschleife permit.
The racing team from Lower Saxony also entered another permit car in the VT2-RWD class. Three-time touring car world champion Andy Priaulx, his son Seb and Ford works driver Ben Barker took turns at the wheel of a BMW 125i. The three drivers also posted competitive lap times in the race. The trio managed to finish the race in tenth place in the strong field of competitors in their class. As a result, Multimatic works drivers Ben Barker and Seb Priaulx have successfully fulfilled the requirements for obtaining the Permit A for the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
Bennet Ehrl was the sole driver of the BMW M4 GT4. After four hours of racing, the Berliner, who had already gained his permit with Walkenhorst Motorsport, finished seventh in the SP10 class. Ehrl attracted attention with strong lap times during the race.
‘The drivers had to cope with typical October weather in the Eifel during NLS5. It was very wet at times before it started to dry – I know how tricky this can be in the cockpit. But all our cars were able to finish the race and the permit drivers were able to complete important laps for Nordschleife admission. I am particularly pleased that we were able to work successfully with the top pros Andy, Seb and Ben as a team this year and that we were able to support the guys on their way to getting the Permit A,’ said Jörg Breuer, Managing Director Walkenhorst Motorsport.
The season finale of the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series will take place on 16 November – Walkenhorst Motorsport will then return to the Nordschleife.
