Walkenhorst Motorsport with double programme

Walkenhorst Motorsport has a packed race weekend ahead of it. The team from Melle will be competing in the ADAC GT Masters at the Hockenheimring and will also be on the Nordschleife.

Walkenhorst Motorsport will be active at two race tracks with five cars during the coming race weekend. The team from Lower Saxony will start at the ADAC GT Masters season finale at the Hockenheimring. At the same time, the team will be active in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series.

Walkenhorst Motorsport will field two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s as usual at the ADAC GT Masters season finale. The cars will be driven by Denis Bulatov and Mike David Ortmann, plus American Chandler Hull and youngster Nico Hantke.

Bulatov and Ortmann, who have been promoted from the ADAC GT4 Germany series, have already secured two podium finishes in this year’s ADAC GT Masters season. The entire team is highly motivated to end the racing year in the ADAC’s long-standing GT3 racing series with another podium finish. The two drivers are currently in sixth place in the overall standings and are still within striking distance of the drivers in front of them.

Chandler Hull and talented up-and-coming driver Hantke have established themselves as one of the best duos in the Pro-Am class during the past race weekends – at the Spa-Francorchamps round, they even managed to celebrate a class victory. The two drivers would like to repeat this in the finale!

‘We want to end our first season in the ADAC GT Masters on a high at Hockenheim! We have gained a lot of experience at the previous race weekends and have been able to show our skills on several occasions, and we would now like to emphasise this again,’ said Managing Director Niclas Königbauer ahead of the final weekend.

The two final races of the ADAC GT Masters at the Hockenheimring start on Saturday and Sunday at 3:15 p.m. each day. Sport1 will broadcast both races live on German free-to-air TV. The races will also be streamed worldwide on YouTube.

At the same time as the event in Hockenheim, Walkenhorst Motorsport will be competing in the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The team will be competing with a BMW M4 GT4 and two production-based touring cars from the VT2 class. The GT3 project on the Nordschleife is over for this year, so that the team can focus fully on the ADAC GT Masters race at Hockenheim and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup in Jeddah.

Bennet Ehrl and Jean-Christophe David, who have already gained experience on the Nordschleife with Walkenhorst Motorsport, will take turns at the wheel of the BMW M4 GT4, which is competing in the strong SP10 class. However, the fast Dutchman Mex Jansen still needs experience on the Nordschleife after competing in the Fanatec GT World Challenge with WMS. He will be supported by the British drivers Ed McDermott and Michael Broadhurst. The three drivers will be at the wheel of the well-known Hyundai i30N in the VT2-FWD class.

Walkenhorst Motorsport will field a BMW 125i in the VT2-RWD class as their second permit car. The car will be driven by three-time touring car world champion Andy Priaulx, who also won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2005, his son Seb Priaulx and Ford works driver Ben Barker. The trio already competed in the 6-hour race of the NLS at the beginning of August and finished a strong third.

‘We are delighted that the seemingly endless summer break in the NLS is finally over! It is also an honour for us to have Andy Priaulx competing again with his son and Ben Barker in one of our cars to get his permit! We are also very pleased that we are now expanding our collaboration to include the Nordschleife together with Mex Jansen! We are convinced of his talent. We will once again be fighting for a top result in the GT4 class,’ explains Jörg Breuer, managing director of the team.

The 55th Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy will start on Saturday at 12:00 and will cover the usual distance of four hours. Qualifying will take place before that, starting at 8:30. Fans can follow the action on the Nordschleife in the official livestream from 8:15.
