Race report ADAC GT4 Zandvoort

Walkenhorst Motorsport with another podium success in the ADAC GT4 Germany

The second ADAC GT4 Germany weekend in Zandvoort was highly successful for the #34 Walkenhorst Motorsport car. Mex Jansen and Nico Hantke celebrate a second place.

Zandvoort. The second weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany season took place in Zandvoort, the Netherlands. On the 4.259-kilometre circuit in the middle of the dunes, the series was again part of the DTM program. A corresponding number of fans came to cheer on the pilots live.

For Walkenhorst Motorsport it was the second ADAC GT4 Germany event after the premiere in Oschersleben already went very positively.

The two duos Nico Hantke and Mex Jansen as well as Sami-Matti Trogen and Enzo Joulié also demonstrated their talent in Zandvoort. While the #35 started the race from tenth place on the grid, the #34 sister car followed in eleventh place. Nico Hantke and Mex Jansen were able to fight their way up the field and finally crossed the finish line in fifth place. The #35 BMW M4 GT4 had to be parked early due to a collision in the second half of the race.

A similar picture emerged on Sunday. The #34 drivers started from 14th position and were happy about second place after a hard-fought 33 laps and a top performance. Mex Jansen was able to celebrate a podium finish at his home race.

Walkenhorst Motorsport’s sister car was not lucky in this race either. The race had just started when Sami-Matti Trogen found himself between two opponents and had to park the #35 again.

After the second of six race weekends, Nico Hantke and Mex Jansen are currently in second place in the drivers’ classification with 63 points – they also lead the junior classification. Sami-Matti Trogen and Enzo Jouliè follow in ninth place. In the team championship, Walkenhorst Motorsport took second place.

The next ADAC GT4 Germany weekend will take place from August 4th to 6th at the Nürburgring.

Nico Hantke: “We had a very successful weekend in Zandvoort. The team did a great job and we were able to significantly improve the car from Saturday to Sunday. With fifth and second place we can be at the forefront of the championship.”
